Supporting Ukraine Through Pet-Friendly Art

We know we’re not the only ones who have felt our hearts and minds divided between trying to carry on with day-to-day activities and keeping up with what is happening in Ukraine these past few months. Beyond donations and support to charities supporting both the animals and humans in the region, we’ve found solace in seeking out the art and artists of Ukraine.

Though many Ukrainian artists are not currently able to ship their artwork, many are creating digital art and downloads that you can purchase to support them.

Glass Art Stories is one artist whose work we have treasured for some time. A couple of years ago, our board of directors commissioned a custom pet portrait of our founder, Lisa Prince Fishler’s beloved dog Gulliver. Gully passed away after just two years with Lisa and her family, but in his short time made a huge impact on all who knew him. The work that Ivan at Glass Art Stories did captured him perfectly.

Glass Art Stories has some smaller, pre-made suncatchers and stained glass available as well as digital downloads and postcards. All the proceeds from digital downloads go towards supplies for those in Ukraine.

TutsiMiniWorld is run by artist Natasha Semenchenko who had to flee Ukraine with her son. Now in Germany, she is selling digital downloads to help support her family: photographs of her truly adorable crocheted miniatures.

FomenkoArt is similarly run by a Ukrainian artist, Lena Fomenko, who has turned her watercolor paintings into collections of digital downloads that you can print at home or have printed.

Feel Your Style is a shop run by three artists – Olga, Len, and Irina – and their families. In addition to their own artwork, they are also selling digital downloads of their children’s artwork.

KotomuzArt is run by Julia Kuznetsova a painter and ceramicist with a really unique and beautiful style who is selling digital downloads of original artwork in postcard sizes.

AnnTitovaDesign illustrates the most fun cats on the interwebs and has a series devoted to the war in Ukraine that can be purchased as digital downloads or t-shirts.

There are countless other artists and creatives in Ukraine who can use our support, these are just a small sample that we’ve come across. Etsy and other online retailers have made it easier than ever to connect with artists in Ukraine, so we encourage you to explore and support them as you’re able. If you’d like to make a donation to an animal-related cause in helping people and pets of Ukraine, we put together a list based on information from Humane Society International and the partners they have been working with.
