Volunteer Positions
- Will serve as a contact and cheerleader for the Artists Helping Animals program, ensuring fellow members are getting all they can out of AHA membership
- Introducing new members in the Facebook group
- Helping to source new perks and discounts for members
- Becoming an expert in artist resources
- Helping to identify needed-resources to support artists of different mediums
- Will help translate needs, opportunities, and ideas to HeARTs Speak leadership to help grow the program

Will help to identify areas of growth for the program in the future
- Helps moderate the Facebook members-only community and is familiar with members and their work
- Works with staff to identify members whose work may be a good fit for Images with HeART or Pets and People Photos websites.
- Ideally can help to feed content ideas to Communications Specialist that highlight members, write or source blogs/interviews on topics of interest, and help to identify guest speakers and other valued program elements.
- Must currently be a member of the Artists Helping Animals program.
- This position requires enthusiasm for artists who want to connect, share, and learn from one another, and use their creativity to promote animal adoption.
- 3+ years of experience using art to help animals preferred but not mandatory.
- Must love working with people as much as animals, and have an understanding of, and stay current with, animal welfare trends.

- Experience with WordPress a major plus!

Job Title: HeARTs Speak Grant Writing Volunteer (remote or local to Hudson Valley, NY)
Department: Operations + Program Administration
Reports To: Director of Operations, Caitlin Quinn and Executive Director, Lisa Prince Fishler
Type: Unpaid, but happy to support with college credit, volunteer hours, and basically a fountain of warm fuzzies, karma points, and good vibes.
Commitment: Flexible but hoping for somewhere between 2-4 hours weekly
Responsibilities:
- Grant research, Letter of Inquiry drafting, data compilation, follow-up research and other grant-related work with the Director of Operations and at times, Executive Director.
- Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team and an understanding that feedback and draft-writing will be part of the grant writing process
- Ability to adhere to critical deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, both written and interpersonal/phone skills
- Efficient turnaround of projects and tasks
- Reliable and consistent communication with the Director of Operations and other HeARTs Speak team members involved in projects.
- Maintaining and celebrating the HeARTs Speak brand, mission, and reputation.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in basic email communication and comfort with online presence/communications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work from home or using your own equipment and software.
- Ability to communicate clearly through the written word, using proper grammar and spelling.
- An understanding of basic grant writing and experience with the process of grant seeking, preferred
- Track record for winning grants in the past, and managing the process through reporting, is preferred
- Brimming with creativity and the drive to experiment, ideate, and imagine!

Aforementioned super cool things may include (but are not limited to, because the world is our oyster!): flyers, social graphics, infographics, multi-page PDF documents, illustrations, image overlays and embellishments, postcards, and website design components.

Efficient turnaround of finished pieces

Humoring our infatuation with illustrated small animals, donuts, and cats that resemble celebrities.

Proficient in Canva is a must, as many templates are created there

Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator a definite plus!

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

Working knowledge of typography, image sizing and cropping, composition, and digital illustration. Video-editing experience is a major plus!

An appreciation and affinity for modern, playful design aesthetics
